axonX and Johnson Controls form a Marketing Alliance

axonX Video Technology for Detecting Fire and Smoke to be Added to Johnson Controls Family of Fire Products

BALTIMORE, MD (2/07/06) --- axonX, LLC, the leading developer of innovative, vision-based technologies for Early Warning fire detection, will supply Johnson Controls with advanced fire video technology and software to expand its family of Intelligent Fire Products.  Johnson Controls will sell and service the expanded offerings through its national and international distribution networks.

“Johnson Controls offers an ideal distribution channel for axonX,” says Mac Mottley, CEO of axonX. “The Johnson Controls building efficiency business is one of the largest building automation, security and fire safety integrators in the world.  It is a world-class company providing state-of-the-art security and wireless solutions to customers.  This technology allows Johnson Controls to offer a significant fire and smoke detection advancement to its customers.”

As a result of the agreement, axonX will continue product development, initiate certification of the product through listing agencies such as Underwriters Laboratory (UL) and Factory Mutual (FM), and support the Johnson Controls product launch through training and technical assistance.

“Johnson Controls is constantly monitoring the marketplace for solutions that help customers protect their assets,” said Don Albinger, vice president of fire and security product solutions at Johnson Controls.  “Using video technology to detect fire and smoke enables customers to enhance their protection and safety as well as leverage their existing technology investments to help control lifecycle costs.”

Recently, axonX—which is based in Baltimore City’s Emerging Technology Center (ETC)—was also awarded a Maryland Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO) Technology Transfer Initiatives grant. The $50,000 Aberdeen Technology Transfer Initiative grant will fund the testing of the axonX SigniFire Video-Based Fire Detection within the standards of the Factory Mutual (FM) Approval Process. The Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) will provide the performance fire testing in a large volume building as required by Factory Mutual.
